Summary:
having the module inline or not!
Detailed Description:
I know it from other modules (for example formbuilder). when you embed the modul
code in regular content pages, then you have the choice whether the module
should replace the other content or behave inline (just geplace itselfs). this
is important when you submit a form and you want to keep the text of the content
of the page at the submission template.
when i add the gallery content between my regular content, and i browse thru the
albums, i still have the text above and below the gallery instead of having just
the albums. so the module behaves inline.
would be nice when you add a checkbox in options.

For what I can see now, Gallery can behave "inline" if you don't use pretty urls

I did look how Formbuilder does this, but Formbuilders behaves very different
from Gallery (submitting forms in stead of clicking hyperlinks).

Are there any other modules I can look at for example?

yes, nearly every calguy module provides this feature. best example for using it
in gallery.
i have a simple content page with some text. and below a gallery tag for
displaying a specific gallery. when i click through the gallery here, the
content above will disappear. this wont happen when the module would behave
"inline". the content would stay when browsing through the gallery.
example description from CGBlog:
(optional) inline="false" - Applicable only to the myarticles action, this
parameter specifies that the pagination links should be created in an inline
manner. i.e: the resulting output from the link will replace the original tag,
not the {content} tag on the destination page
