Version: 1.5.2
CMSMS Version: None
Severity: Major
Resolution: Awaiting Response
State: Closed
Summary:
Pages served correctly but with 500 Internal Server Error header
Detailed Description:
I have a site which has been running 1.4.1 for the last few months and various
past versions for the last few years. Recently Google started returning errors
when crawling pages via an XML sitemap. Visiting those pages with a browser
shows the page correctly but looking at the headers served shows that '500
internal server error' is being sent as the header for the page. Apache serves
pages correctly which are outside CMSMS and the server is running other sites
with CMSMS without a problem. No actual Apache 500 errors are written to the
sites error log and adding a specific php error log produces nothing.

I have replaced and updated the entire install of CMSMS with 1.5.2 only keeping
the database of content. I can provide full config details (I don't see an easy
way to add them to the new bug tracker).

I've spent about 4-5 hours trying to find the root cause of the problem and
ended up specifically adding header('HTTP/1.1 200 OK'); to the index.php.
Incidentally the admin area of the site also seems to behave with a similar
feature set although there is the added problem of the style.php file being
served with a 500 error which results in unstyled admin pages...

I hope this isn't me being dumb somewhere but I've really been through
everything with a finetoothed comb.

we can't reproduce this issue..... more information, and concrete steps to
reproduce the problem on a fresh install are going to be needed.

I'll setup an example subdomain so at least we can see the issue I am talking
about. I have a feeling it will be some odd combination of factors which make
it an unusual scenario.

It's done quite a bit of damage in terms of SEO and Google has removed it from
its index (rightly so I suppose) so I would love to see this fixed or at least
find an answer.
