Assigned To:
Version: 1.0.2
CMSMS Version: 2.2.14
Severity: Major
Resolution: Awaiting Response
State: Open
Summary:
existing forms can't be extended with new fields
Detailed Description:
After updating cmsms and 'form builder' to the latest versions, I can't append a
field to preexisting forms anymore. (Didn't check with new forms though). I
first assumed that problem would be covered with bug #12189, but after a closer
look, this seems to be something different.
a) I get the message 'field added'
b) downloading the tar.gz version and installing this, doesn't fix the problem.
In spite of the message a) The new field doesn't show up in the form I tried to
modify.

any ideas?

(os is debian9 with php 7.2.30)

I haven't been able to reproduce it. Do you have any clue from the error log?

Thanks for your respone. No - no clue from the log file, this looks clean (with
the exception of some frontend smarty gotchas).
I tested with a newly created form - same problem there. Looks like I can't add
any field to any form.

Is there any errorlog supression for the backend in 2.2.14? I don't see any
errors from the backend at all, not even if I break a template and try to edit a
page. (If there is, can I disable this, to provide you with more details?)

thanks for your help

There is no change with regards to errors, that is, CMSMS doesn't interfere in
the PHP error log generation which is what I meant btw when referring to it. It
is a system configuration not a CMSMS configuration (although there might be so
3rd party modules which might interfere with it but not many to my knowledge).
However if you are talking about the CMSMS own admin log, it's not very useful
on its own. The kind of errors shown there depend a lot on what the developers
decide it's important to log there. It is useful in combination with the PHP
error log, or for other very specific issues.
So, if you can and haven't done so already, try to configure the server php.ini
(sometimes user.ini) file to allow and configure a PHP error log (sometimes web
hosts have a knowledge base of FAQ section with instructions otherwise you can
google it) and see if an error appears in the error log file.

Otherwise I don't have a way to try to reproduce and fix it.

Thanks

Could you please test on latest release 1.1? Thanks.

sorry for the delay - had to recreate the problem first. But sorry, bad news -
problem persists. OS is still the same. Tested with php 7.0 and 7.2.33-1 (fpm)
