[#8477] All custom fields get cleared when one of the required fields is empty

Summary:
All custom fields get cleared when one of the required fields is empty
Detailed Description:
When inserting a new item using the admin-interface and leaving one of the
required fields empty, the "Item ... is empty" error is displayed (which is ok)
but all custom fields that were already filled in are emptied as well (only the
Title remains). This is highly inconvenient for the admin (which has to enter
all values again).

I hope there's a solution for this.
